Adult-Use Cannabis Cultivation: Our Journey

With over 30 years of experience in outdoor cultivation, our journey into large-scale cannabis cultivation began with NYS Hemp in 2019. This venture provided us with extensive expertise in the entire process from Seed to Sale. The passing of the NYS MRTA (Marijuana Regulation Taxation Act) in March 2021 established the Office of Cannabis Management, paving the way for regulations that enabled us to apply for the Conditional Adult Use Cultivators License. On April 14, 2022, we proudly obtained our NYS Adult Use Conditional Cultivator’s License OCM-AUCC-22-000008. After completing one season of Adult Use cultivation on a 30,000 sq ft outdoor canopy, we are continually learning which strains thrive best in our environment. As advocates for cannabis, we remain committed to our current NYS Hemp License, growing Hemp to sustain our line of CBD products while also exploring opportunities through the NYS Adult Use Microbusiness framework.

Indoor grow operations continuously evolve, and we have adapted alongside them, gaining knowledge from prohibition to legalization since 1987. Legacy farmers hold cultural and historical significance, as their decades of effort have paved the way for cannabis legalization and normalization. They have made substantial contributions to their economic regions and have been fervent advocates for personal freedom, environmental protection, and building loving communities, while also supporting cannabis advocacy and the growth of cannabis cultivation throughout the industry, including initiatives like the NYS Adult Use Microbusiness.

Kerry Trammel is the Owner of The Releaf Market LLC in Jamestown, NY. Over 20 years ago, Kerry began her cannabis advocacy in North Carolina, focusing on the importance of cannabis cultivation for various applications. In 2019, she relocated to New York, where she became an advocate for all aspects of the cannabis industry, including supporting the NYS Adult Use Microbusiness. That same year, Kerry obtained her cannabis hemp license and started growing. By 2022, she had received her NY State conditional cultivation license and successfully grew outdoors for the season. Kerry's advocacy efforts have included assisting the Asheville City Council and County Commissioners in adopting resolutions to support Medical Cannabis in NC. She has spoken at legislative sessions and town hall meetings to promote cannabis acceptance, while also educating people about the benefits of cannabis within the medical community. Notably, she has advocated for the use of cannabis for pediatric cancer patients, drawing from personal experience as her youngest daughter has been a pediatric cancer survivor for over 8 years. In addition to her passion for cannabis, Kerry is a Certified Medical Coder with over 20 years of experience in the medical field and holds certificates of completion for cannabis community education courses from NCCC.

Todd Stimson is the Cultivation Manager at The Releaf Market LLC in Jamestown, NY. In this role, he oversees all facets of the company’s cannabis cultivation. With over 20 years of experience as a legacy grower and advocate in North Carolina, Todd has been instrumental in cannabis advocacy, educating others on the benefits of cannabis use. He has garnered numerous resolutions and letters of support from municipalities in the NC area for his dedication to cannabis advocacy. In 2013, Todd created the only Cannabis Ribbon through a USPTO registered trademark. Returning to his hometown of Jamestown, NY in 2019, Todd continues to thrive locally with his cannabis knowledge and advocacy. He has spoken at various local municipalities, paving the way for future cannabis cultivators and businesses, including those interested in the NYS Adult Use Microbusiness model. His efforts in Kiantone, NY, where he helped develop a survey for residents about retail and consumption opportunities, exemplify his commitment to community engagement. Todd is consistently expanding his expertise in the cannabis industry, earning certificates from the NCCC cannabis curriculum.
